A Different Way of Farming

Where tradition, land, and care come together

Here at Kingston Farming Co-op, farming is not something rushed or scaled for convenience. It is a way of life that is shaped by generations of knowledge, deep respect for the land, and an understanding that good food is never accidental.

Our Amish farming community believes that the health of the soil, the animals, and the people who consume our food are all connected. Every decision, from how many animals are raised on a pasture to how food is handled at the facility, is made with long-term care in mind, not short-term gain.

This philosophy has guided Kingston for decades. It is the same mindset that produces award-winning cheeses and it is the foundation behind the exceptional eggs we produce today.

Life on Pasture

How Our Hens Live

Small flocks. Open land. A natural daily rhythm.

At Kingston, better eggs begin with the way our hens live: not in confinement, but on open pasture, in small flocks, guided by the natural rhythm of the day.

Our egg producers raise small, carefully managed flocks on organically maintained pasture. By limiting the number of birds per pasture, farmers are able to provide more space, cleaner environments, and attentive daily care. Each flock is small enough to be truly known, observed daily for health, behavior, and comfort, rather than managed as a production unit.

Every morning, hens move freely out onto pasture, where their day unfolds naturally. They roam across open land, foraging through grasses and ground cover, scratching at the soil in search of seeds and insects.

They dust bathe to keep themselves clean, rest when they choose, and move throughout the day without restriction. This daily movement isn’t incidental, it’s essential. The pasture provides both nutrition and enrichment, supporting strong, healthy birds through:

  • Fresh grasses and forage
  • Naturally occurring insects and seeds
  • Sunlight, fresh air, and space to move

Unlike conventional egg production, there are no cages, no forced routines, and no overcrowded conditions. Hens are not rushed or confined to maximize output. Instead, they live at a steady, natural pace, a calmer, lower-stress way of farming that directly affects the eggs they produce.  This approach shows up in every carton:

  • Strong, well-formed shells
  • Rich, vibrant yolks
  • Consistent quality from egg to egg

When hens are given space, time, and care, they lay eggs that reflect it. That’s the difference you can see and taste, and the difference you can trust.

Thoughtful Care From

Farm to Facility

Handled with precision, protected by standards.

While Kingston farming is rooted in tradition, our commitment to food safety is thoroughly modern. Kingston's egg production meets some of the highest food safety and quality standards in the industry.

From the moment eggs are gathered, they are handled with care and intention:

  • Clean collection practices at the farm
  • Controlled transport and handling
  • Strict sanitation and quality checks
  • Full traceability from producer to package

This balance, traditional farming paired with rigorous modern standards, ensures that every carton is retail-ready without losing the integrity of how it was produced.
